Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 August 2026

Weekly Steps sends one evidence-based email a week for the first two years of your baby's life. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The service is operated by Known Ltd, which is the "responsible party" for your information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

When you sign up we collect:

We use the date of birth only to work out which week's email is relevant, and the baby's name and sex to personalise those emails.

2. How we use your information

We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.

3. Legal basis

We process your information on the basis of your consent, which you give when you tick the acknowledgement box and sign up. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing, and we will stop sending and remove your information.

4. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the service:

These providers process data on our instructions and under contract. They do not use your information for their own purposes.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside South Africa, including in the European Union. Where that happens we use providers that offer appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent level of protection.

6. Children's information

The information we hold about a baby (name, date of birth, sex) is provided by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, we remove your personal information within a reasonable period, typically 30 days, unless we are required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

9. Cookies

The Weekly Steps website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. The signup form is provided by our marketing platform, which may set a session cookie so the form works correctly.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA, and where applicable the GDPR, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforeg.org.za.
